Being Healthy at Nursery

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles is important to us to ensure all our children grow up to be healthy and safe. At Spring Grove Nursery we ensure our children are provided with three meals per day, consisting of Breakfast, Lunch and a Light Tea, which is freshly prepared by our qualified chef. Each season we adapt our menu to suit weather and to ensure the children are having a different variety of meals.

We also supply fresh milk and fresh fruit and vegetables daily for our children for a healthy snack.

Outdoor Play

To ensure our children get the physical skills they need to grow and develop, the staff provide a fun learning enviornment outdoors with enough space for the children to run and climb freely. At Spring Grove Nursery we have two gardens for the children to explore, the main garden is a free-flow spacious enviornment with articial grass. It is large, spacious for babies and toddlers to explore. Our other garden is used by the pre-school children to ride bikes, scooters and to develop their interests, which is also artificial grass.

It is essential that young children get frequent and regular opportunities to explore and learn in the outdoor environment and this should not be seen as an optional extra. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, which covers children aged birth to five, places strong emphasis on the importance and value of daily outdoor experiences for children’s learning and development. In recent years there has been a cultural shift in our society that has reduced the access and use of outdoors for many young children.

We offer an open door policy where we give the children the choice of indoor and outdoor activities each morning and afternoon session.
