The (EYFS) supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.
We currently use planning boards and Learning Journey's to observe and plan around our children's needs.
There are 7 areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage:
1. Personal, Social, Emotional
2. Communication and Language
3. Physical Development
4. Expressive Arts and Design
5. Literacy
6. Mathmatics
7. Knowledge and Understanding of the world
We also link our observations, next steps and activities to The Characteristics of Effective Learning as this demonstrates how children learn and play. These are;
Playing and Exploring - Engagement
Finding out and Exploring
Playing with what they know
Being willing to 'have a go'
Active Learning - Motivation
Being involved and Concentrating
Keep Trying
Enjoying and Achieving what they set out to do
Creating and Thinking Critically - Thinking
Having their own Ideas
Making Links
Choosing ways to do things
All our planned activities will help to develop these areas, and will be adapted to cater for children's individual needs.

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills. Ofsted will come and inspect our nursery every 3 years to ensure high standard of quality care is given to the children and that they are experiencing educational activities in a safe and secure enviornment.
Ofsted will notify the nursery half a day before they are coming to carry out their inspection. We would always inform our parents/carers that Ofsted are coming to carry out their inspection as, Ofsted may want to speak to parents/carers about how they feel about the nursery and may ask some questions.
